Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has opened up on their team preparation for the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023. The Veteran all-rounder will be leading the team in marquee events after Tamim Iqbal stepped down from the role owing to his fitness issues which saw him pull out from the Asia Cup tournament.
Shakib has led Bangladesh in ODI cricket in the past. He was the captain of the side in the 2011 ODI World Cup. The 36-year-old currently holds the leadership position in T20 and Test cricket and would look to inspire his team to pull off a few upsets against the high-quality opponents in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
Speaking on ICC, Shakib Al Hasan said that the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup are two different tournaments and added that they want to have a good preparation for the mega event in India and reckons that players can take up the opportunity to do well in the continental event to get themselves ready for the mega event.
“You cannot think of the World Cup with the Asia Cup because they are two different tournaments.”

“Yes, if we can do well and develop as a good team in the Asia Cup, in that case, we have a good chance to do well in the World Cup, and from that point of view Asia Cup is important,” Shakib Al Hasan said.
Shakib Al Hasan has been one of the greatest players for Bangladesh and has been part of their many historical wins. He will be a crucial player for the team in the continental event and has a vast amount of experience playing in the World Cup for Bangladesh.
