Former South African skipper AB de Villiers is excited to see the return of Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah from an injury ahead of the all-important Asia Cup 2023. The 29-year-old will be spread heading India’s bowling attack and will be crucial for the team’s success in the continental event.
Jasprit Bumrah was at his best leading the Indian team in the 1st and 2nd T20, as he picked up two wickets in the opening over of the 1st match and followed his fine form in the 2nd game against Ireland picking up two wickets including a final over wicket maiden to announce his arrival in the International scenes after 11 months.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers hailed Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his Player of the Series award in the Ireland series and recalled the words of his coaches, who said that he’s never been away from the game and is confident of the Indian pacer’s ability in the game.

“Bumrah even won the Man of the Series in Ireland, coming back from injury, which shows you what kind of talent he is. I have heard the coaches say that he has never been away. I am not surprised at all with Bumrah’s performance and it’s exciting to see him in form,” Ab de Villiers said.
The Right arm pacer underwent surgery for his back injury and missed out on the majority of cricketing action including IPL 2023 and WTC Final 2023 but made a brilliant comeback in the Ireland series. His form and fitness will be crucial for the Indian team going into the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup later this year.
We Know How Skillful And Smart He Can Be – AB de Villiers
Ab de Villiers said that he was disappointed to see star Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal being dropped from the India squad for the Asia Cup 2023 and added that he has been very skilful in the white-ball format of the game.

“It is a bit of a disappointing drop for me as well. I think Yuzi is always handy with that leg-spinning option. We know how skillful and smart he can be. But the decision has been made and it is what it is,” Ab de Villiers added
Chahal was expected to be chosen for the continental competition but was dropped in favour of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, where India will compete on spin-friendly surfaces in Sri Lanka.
