Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli marked another significant record in his career as he surpassed South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis to become the 5th highest run-getter in test cricket on his historic 500th match in International Cricket. The 34-year-old also become the first cricketer to score a half-century in his historic game on Thursday.

Virat Kohli has been a massive contributor to Indian cricket over the last decade or so. He has been spearheading the batting attack of India in all three formats of the game. The India batter has dominated the likes of heavyweights South Africa, England, and Australia in their backyards.

The prolific Indian batter played exceedingly well against West Indies on the 2nd test, as he batted with a lot of commitment on Day 1. The Indian veteran is currently unbeaten on 87* and Kohli will be hoping to end his overseas test century drought on the West Indies soil in the 2nd test as it has been close to five years for him to score a century away from home soil.

Kohli broke the record of legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record by becoming the fastest batter to complete 25,000 runs in international cricket during the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian veteran has smashed 25,528 including 75 centuries and 132 half-centuries in International cricket. Currently, the former Indian skipper is only behind Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Mahela Jayawardene in International Cricket.

Coming into the game, India has batted brilliantly well in the 1st innings, with Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal providing a fantastic start to the innings, as they formed a second consecutive 100 runs partnership in the red-ball cricket. The former Indian skipper is also on the verge of equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 centuries record in ODI Cricket, Virat Kohli has 46 centuries in 265 innings with a stupendous batting average of 57.32.

Since his return to form in 2022, The RCB batter continued his good form since scoring his first international century in Asia Cup 2022, which was his maiden T20I ton as well. He then ended his barren run in ODIs, by scoring 3 centuries in 4 ODIs against Bangladesh and New Zealand and will continue his fine form going into Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023.
