IPL 2023: That Is Why Only Sachin Tendulkar Has Done It – Ravi Shastri On Whether Virat Kohli Can Achieve This Massive Record

Ravi Shastri And Virat Kohli

Former Indian world-cup winner Ravi Shastri believes Virat Kohli has a good chance of surpassing Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries in International cricket. The former Indian Skipper reached his 75th ton in International cricket against Australia in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli made an epic comeback from the slump in form to score five hundred starting in Asia cup 2022. Kohli now has 28 tons in the longer format of the game and will continue to add some more centuries to his tally.

With Virat Kohli returning to form, the talk around him reaching the 100 centuries mark has gone up. Speaking to SportsYaari, Ravi Shastri feels Virat Kohli has a lot of cricket left in him and he can probably play for the next 5-6 years in International cricket and also added it will huge achievement by the RCB-batter if he can go past that record as it was done only by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in world cricket.

“How many players have scored 100 hundred? Just one. So if you are saying that he can cross that mark, it’s a big thing. He still has a lot of cricket left in him. He is very fit. And when a player of that class starts scoring centuries then it follows one after the other. Probably in a stretch of 15 matches, there will be seven hundred. Kohli can still easily play cricket for 5-6 years because he is fit. But it is not easy by any stretch of the imagination that is why only one guy has done it. But the fact that you are telling me he might reach there is a big thing,” he said.

Sachin Tendulkar was arguably one of the best batters of all time in International Cricket, Tendulkar has 100 centuries in international cricket, including 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs with over 600 international games. Tendulkar retired from all formats of the game on November 2013.

Virat Kohli is on the verge of equaling SachinTendulkar’s 49 centuries record in ODI Cricket, Virat Kohli has 46 centuries in 265 innings with a stupendous batting average of 57.32. Many experts also believe Virat Kohli (75) can cross the master blaster’s record of 100 centuries in International Cricket.

I Think India Is Due For World Cup – Ravi Shastri

Former World Cup winner Ravi Shastri feels India’s ICC trophy victory is around the corner as they are consistently making it to the knockouts of the events. The Indian team could win a single ICC Trophy post-2013 Champions Trophy victory under the leadership of legendary MS Dhoni.

“I think India is due. They have been consistent – they reached finals, and semi-finals regularly,” Ravi Shastri said.

Team India was at its best during the period between 2007 and 2013, when India won three ICC trophies – the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013 – under the inspiring leadership of MS Dhoni.

India would have a great chance to win the ODI World Cup 2023 in home conditions. As the last three ODI World Cups are won by the home team, India will look to make full use of the Indian conditions to end India’s title drought in ICC events.
