Indian veteran wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik believes all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be a vital player for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Pandya has been in sensational form since his return from injury and played many important knocks for India in limited-overs cricket.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, the Indian wicket-keeper hailed Hardik as the key player for India in World Cup, as it is difficult to have a player of his calibre who can contribute with both bat and ball, and it is a very rare commodity to have fast-bowling all-rounder.
“He is unarguably the most important player in the lineup. A, because he brings two skills to the floor and the fact that he brings two tough skills to the floor. Medium pacer and batting all-rounder is something that is very, very hard to get. Yes, there are 2-3 players who are probably spinning all-rounders, but fast bowling all-rounders is very hard to get,” he said.
Hardik Pandya has been a prominent player for Men in Blue, with a good performance from the last year winning IPL 2022 with Gujarat Titans, Pandya is now the Vice-Captain for Asian Giants in ODI and T20I.

Dinesh Karthik further reckoned Hardik Pandya can bat well in the middle order and his bowling would be vital to get a crucial breakthrough in the middle overs and also further added if we remove Hardik Pandya from that playing 11 it would leave a huge hole in the Indian team.
“He is bowling well. He is a very important cog in the wheel. He is one of those players that make up the outlook of the team, the way the team is constructed depends on where Hardik Pandya is. Suddenly if you remove him from the whole team and you feel that is going a batter more or are we going a batter less. It becomes a massive question mark. For Team India, the key player is Hardik Pandya and if he is in form, he brings a lot to the table,” he further added.
Following the success in IPL, he led Team India in T20Is on several occasions in Rohit’s absence and did well. In 11 T20Is as captain, he has led India to victories in an impressive 8 matches and is touted to be the next captain of the Indian team in white-ball cricket.
Hardik Pandya will be leading the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the edition of IPL 2023. Indian Premier League 2023 will kick off on 31st March 2023, the opening match is between defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
