Brad Hogg, the former Australian spinner has expressed his opinions on a player he thinks will be a star performer for India in the tournament.

With the forthcoming T20 World Cup starting from October 17 in the UAE and Oman on cards, everybody has their eyes tight on the high-profile event already. India, who finished as the semifinalist in the last edition in 2016 is highly anticipated to be the strong contender and the chatter about players making an impact in the marquee event just never ends.

Brad Hogg: Suryakumar Yadav Might Be The Player Of The Series At T20I World Cup

The Men in Blue under Virat Kohli would be determined to taste the victory of an ICC trophy and they would certainly leave no stone unturned for it.

The team combinations for the World Cup are in constant talks but one name that has designed its layout to make it certain in the side is that of Suryakumar Yadav.

Brad Hogg feels that Suryakumar Yadav is the one to watch out for in the tournament and predicted that he arguably can be the one who would bag the player of the series in the tournament.

“I just think he is going to be the difference in this particular tournament. If he stands out and puts the bowlers off with that array of shots, I think he is going to set the tournament up for India. For me, I think Suryakumar Yadav is the man for India and I think he’s the man to watch at the T20 World Cup. I think he might be Player of the Series at the T20 World Cup. That’s a big call so far out.”Brad Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

After a memorable T20I debut, versus England early this year, Suryakumar Yadav has once again proved his potential in the ongoing India tour of Sri Lanka. In the three ODIs, he returned with scores of unbeaten 31, 53, and 40 to be adjudged the Player-of-the-Series for his consistency.

The Mumbai batsman scored his second fifty in the shortest format of the game in 33 balls before losing his wicket to Dushmantha Chameera in the 16th over in the 1st T20I which remained his only outing in T20Is in the Sri Lanka tour since he was ruled out from the next 2 matches for being a close contact of Krunal Pandya.

Brad Hogg Thinks Suryakumar Yadav Is Definitely Going To Be In The T20I World Cup For Having Expanded His Game

Suryakumar Yadav has gone on to impress everybody with his sheer flair. Ever since he made his debut for India against England he has consistently scored runs. With the plethora of shots he has under his sleeves, Brad Hogg feels that he has expanded his game and pinned his hopes on the batter to play at number 3 in the World Cup.

“I think Suryakumar Yadav is definitely going to be in the World Cup. Virat Kohli will be opening with Rohit Sharma and you’ll have Suryakumar Yadav coming in at No. 3. I just think he’s expanded his game… the range of shots that he’s got… he’s unorthodox as well so he can play different ramp shots on both leg and offside, but he can also attack you and use his feet,” Brad Hogg said.

Having made his first-class debut in 2010, Suryakumar Yadav has played 77 matches in which he has scored 5326 runs at an average of 44.01. His figures include 14 hundred and 26 fifties. Suryakumar Yadav has played 3 ODIs where he amassed 124 runs averaging 62 and 4 T20Is where he amassed 139 runs averaging 46.33.

Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Yuzvendra Chahal, K Gowtham, and Deepak Chahar are the eight players identified as close contacts of Krunal Pandya, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Although all eight have tested negative for the virus, they have still been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka.

The development puts a question mark over whether the pair of Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav will be eligible to travel to England to join India’s Test squad.
