Sri Lanka will host the Indian team comprising of youngsters, led by Shikhar Dhawan, for 3 ODIs and as many T20Is from July 13 to 25. India would field 2 sides simultaneously with the Test specialist team currently in England.

“They are likely to get a minimum one-year suspension if found guilty of several breaches of their contract,” one official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella were seen smoking in the streets of Durham, where they were based ahead of the ODI series. In a second video on social media, Danushka Gunathilaka is seen joining the pair, violating the coronavirus rules of their stay.

Sri Lanka Lost The T20I Series 3-0 To England And The First ODI Too

England won the first ODI on Tuesday by five wickets. The second ODI is due to be played Thursday with the final on Sunday. After Sri Lanka’s whitewash in the T20 series against England, their fifth consecutive series defeat, disgruntled fans launched a campaign to shun the team on social media.

As far as the performance on the field is concerned, Kusal Mendis scored only 54 runs in three matches with the best score of 39 runs at a poor strike rate of 98.18 while Niroshan Dickwella played in two T20Is only mustering only 14 runs and he wasn’t great behind the stumps either.

In the 1st ODI, Sri Lanka lost 3 for 45 at the top of their innings, and then their last seven for 40, making an eventual 185 that was miles from being sufficient. Man of the Match Chris Woakes was particularly disciplined and skilful as he claimed 4 for 18 from his 10 overs.

Chris Woakes’s five maidens in his spell of 10 overs are the most for England since Jimmy Anderson (10-6-12-1) at Adelaide in January 2002. Chris Woakes returned with outstanding figures of 10-5-18-4.

Then Jonny Bairstow blasted a 21-ball 43, and Joe Root scored an unbeaten 79. Moeen Ali accompanied the latter through a 91 run stand. England had bowled out Sri Lanka out inside 43 overs. They surpassed their score inside 35 overs, with five wickets to spare.

England 189 for 5 (Root 79*, Chameera 3-50) beat Sri Lanka 185 (Perera 73, Hasaranga 54, Woakes 4-18) by five wickets
