Vijay Bharadwaj feels for Ajinkya Rahane to succeed in England, he needs to show a little more attacking instincts as he feels India already has players who can play the waiting game.
India head to England with a strong 20-member squad, some of whom are travelling to the UK for the first time, and some who have been there before.
The Trio Of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, And Cheteshwar Pujara Will Embark On Their Third Test Tour Of England
The final of the World Test Championship is less than three weeks away, and as India gets ready to take on New Zealand in the much-awaited clash, most eyes will be on how some of the Indian batsmen perform in England.

While for Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Washington Sundar, and Mohammed Siraj, along with a few more, this will be their maiden tour of England as international cricketers, the big three of India batting – Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara will embark on their third Test tour of the country.
Vijay Bharadwaj Feels Ajinkya Rahane Should Be Under Most Pressure And Should Bat Positively
The trio is expected to be the key as far as India’s batting is concerned. However, former India all-rounder Vijay Bharadwaj feels Ajinkya Rahane will be under the most pressure.
“Rahane will be under a lot of pressure. Rahane has, unfortunately, not lived up to the expectations. He has been struggling with consistency,” Vijay Bharadwaj who played 3 Tests and 10 ODIs told SportsKeeda in an interview.

Despite decent numbers, Ajinkya Rahane has managed to become one of the most scrutinized batsmen on the Indian team. Despite leading India to a 2-1 series win in Australia earlier this year, questions have been raised on his batting and form.
“Rahane should also be scoring at a faster rate as you already have Cheteshwar Pujara grinding the opposition attack and playing time. You don’t need another batsman to play slowly. When you look at the rules, a draw in the WTC final means sharing the trophy,” Vijay Bharadwaj added.
“To win the Test Championship title, you need batsmen to push the scoring rate. I know Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant will be scoring at a brisk pace and Rahane should also play positively.”
Ajinkya Rahane has played 10 Tests in England, scoring 552 runs, including one century and four fifties, but Vijay Bharadwaj reckons the batsman needs to contribute more.
India’s 3-1 win over England in the Test series has taken the pressure and burden off Virat Kohli when it comes to the captaincy debate. After Ajinkya Rahane led India to a series win in Australia, many suggested that he should take over from Virat Kohli in Test matches.
Ajinkya Rahane led the team to a remarkable 2-1 win in Australia after their heavy defeat in Adelaide where the team registered the lowest Test score of 36. He is yet to lose a Test match as India captain and has won 4 Tests in 5 matches led while one-the Sydney Test was drawn.
Since Ajinkya Rahane’s 112 at Melbourne, his scores read 27*, 22, 4, 37, 24 (against Australia) and 1, 0, 67, 10, 7, 27 (against England). So his form is a bit of concern.
